About Me
Hi! My name is Eli GBRR 4508, but my friends call me Ollie, and I must say, that suits me much better! I’m a 1.5-year-old male golden retriever who came all the way from South Korea to find my forever family!
I’m working on filling out!
I came into rescue pretty underweight and have been working on gaining weight to reach a healthy 60–65 pounds. I’m currently 51 pounds, so we’re getting there! My foster pawrents have been adding eggs to my meals, and let me tell you, they are DELICIOUS.
I was having a little trouble gaining weight at first because I was too busy keeping an eye on the squirrels outside and wasn’t getting enough rest. Apparently, supervising neighborhood wildlife is a full-time job! Luckily, my foster family has figured out how to block my view and encourage me to relax. I’m learning that it’s okay to take a break from squirrel surveillance and catch up on my beauty sleep.
Have I told you about my best friend?
My foster brother is a 4.5-year-old golden retriever, and he has been such a great friend to me! He’s helped my transition into my foster home go smoothly and has shown me just how much fun being a dog can be. I really enjoy playing with him, and I would love a forever home with a friendly canine companion who can continue showing me the ropes of life in the PNW.
Sometimes, dogs who are overly excited can overwhelm me. I’m still learning how to navigate those situations, and I prefer to back away and take some space when I need it. I’d do best with a friendly, well-matched dog who respects my boundaries and can help me continue building confidence.
What about cats?
Well, my foster home has one, and I find her VERY interesting! My foster pawrents think my interest in her, combined with my prey drive, is a little too much. Because of that, a cat-free home is going to be important for me to succeed.
Are kids a good fit for me?
An adult-only home is the best fit. Kids can be a little scary for me because they’re unpredictable, and that can make me uneasy. Since I’m still learning how to handle situations that frighten me, I need a home where my boundaries can be consistently respected and my comfort and safety can be prioritized.
I have met several older teenagers, though, and loved their gentle attention! They told me I was very handsome, and I certainly wasn’t going to disagree with them.
What am I like around the house?
My foster pawrents say I’m a pretty great housemate! I love snuggling on the sofa with them and watching shows. Once I trust my people, I want to be close to them as much as possible. Sofa snuggles? Absolutely. Bed snuggles? Even better. Personal space is overrated!
I’ve also recently discovered how much fun toys are. My foster brother has quite the collection and is very good at sharing. My favorite game is to get every single toy out, watch my foster pawrents pick them all up, and then get every single one out again. It’s a pretty great system, if you ask me!
The crate is VERY scary for me, to the point where I can’t even go in it. The good news is that when my foster pawrents have left me home alone without crating me, I’ve been a very good boy and haven’t destroyed anything. My foster brother tells me that my people will always come back, he’s right!
And did I mention that I LOVE my walks? I have plenty of energy and would be happiest with two long walks a day, lots of playtime, and opportunities to explore. I might even make a great running buddy!
So, what does my dream home look like?
I’d love a home with a friendly, welcoming dog companion who can help me continue learning about life as a family dog. My future family should have experience with dogs and understand that I need a little extra support when I’m scared or unsure.
They’ll need to continue my training, work with a qualified trainer, and be patient as I build confidence. They’ll also need to understand my history, respect my boundaries, and recognize that sometimes I need a little more time and space than other dogs.
An adult-only, cat-free home will be important for my success, along with plenty of walks, playtime, and opportunities to keep learning. And, of course, I really hope my forever family enjoys snuggling, because once I’ve decided you’re my person, I’ll want to spend lots of time close to you!
I’m a young, affectionate golden retriever with a lot of love to give. I’m learning that the world can be a pretty wonderful place, and I’m excited to keep discovering all the good things life has to offer.
I may come with a little extra homework, but I’m already working hard on my assignments! I’m looking for a family who will keep cheering me on, celebrate my progress, and help me continue becoming the happiest, most confident version of myself.
Could you be the one I’ve been waiting for?
Love,
Ollie (Officially Eli GBRR 4508, but I think Ollie has a much nicer ring to it)
My Story
My owner in South Korea was not very nice to me and some of those experiences have made it harder for me to feel safe around new people and in unfamiliar situations. Sometimes I need a little extra time to warm up, and I’d really appreciate a family who understands that trust sometimes takes time.
The good news is that I’ve been working with a trainer on what to do when I feel scared or unsure, and I’m doing really well! I’m a smart boy, and I’m learning more every day.
I do have some fear-based reactivity, which means that when I’m feeling overwhelmed or frightened, I don’t always respond the way we’d like. I need experienced dog owners who can recognize when I’m uncomfortable, respect my boundaries, and continue working with a qualified trainer to help me navigate those situations safely.
I’m not looking for someone to fix me overnight. I’m looking for someone who understands that I’ve had a rough start, sees how far I’ve already come, and is willing to keep doing the homework with me. With patience, consistency, and the right support, I have so much potential!

Foster dog update
Eli came into the rescue at least ten pounds underweight, so his fosters are working to have him gain weight slowly and safely. And Eli loves getting good calories from his daily egg! The fosters are also using this opportunity to teach Eli “wait”.
