My Story

Hi there! I’m your whirlwind lover boy! I’m goofy, mischievous, and up for anything. I greet every one and everything with open paws – I’m your biggest fan within seconds. I haven’t met a cat yet, but my foster thinks I’ll like them! I’ll do best with school-aged kids as my body control still needs some work – meaning I can bump into little ones without meaning to.

I’m not what you’d call a glue dog, but I do love leaning in for love and affection when I’m calm and sleepy. Most of the time though, I’m adventurous and ready to explore — sticks, firewood, and rope toys are my favorite things to chew, and I mean chew. My manners are still a work in progress, so my ideal family is active, patient, and ready to help me finish this knife and fork school my foster stuck me in. I do best with a companion to play with, consistent training and plenty of supervision — I’m not one you can leave alone with your shoes, remote, or phone, since I will absolutely turn them into confetti. An X-pen for now, when I’m home alone, keeps everyone happy.

One more thing my forever family should know: I have a history of idiopathic seizures and it took a while to find the right combination of medications. The good news is I’ve been seizure and side-effect-free for three months now, but I’ll likely need medication for the rest of my life. If there are other dogs in the house, my new family will want to think through how those dogs might react if I do have an episode — I’ll need you to look out for me in those moments.

None of this changes who I am: a joyful, loving, slobbery golden goofball who does everything with his whole heart. I just need a family with patience during my teenage phase, follow-through for my training, calmness to handle a seizure if one happens, and a commitment to keep my medication going. Give me that, and I’ll give you a lifetime of golden devotion…and so much more.
