About Me

Hi, I’m Lion.  I’m an affectionate, happy, playful, and energetic puppy who loves to be close to my people.  No matter what you are doing, I’m happiest when I’m close to you. I’m well on my way to being a dedicated companion to my human family!

I’m very smart and eager to learn.  I love treats and will try even harder to learn something new if I know an edible reward is waiting! I love to play with my human; “Tug” and “Fetch” are my favorites.  I’m an energetic play partner with a strong retrieval instinct, and I return my toys to my human so we can keep playing! I also love romping around with my dog friends until I’m entirely worn out!

I am crate trained at night and at times when my human cannot supervise me; I don’t mind because the closed door keeps me safe.  I’m reliable on relieving myself outdoors with the help of suggestions to go “Outside” from my human. I have had all my puppy shots (ouch!) including my rabies vaccination, and I have a microchip.  I know several voice commands, and I will respond to hand signals.  I like it when my harness is on and I enjoy going for a walk, but I’m still learning good leash manners. I still need to work on not jumping on people, but I’m improving. I just get so excited!!!

Personality

  • Affectionate, I like cuddles and to be in contact with people
  • Eager to please, treat motivated when training
  • “Talks” to get needs met, quite vocal
  • Well socialized for my age; I play well with toys, people and other dogs

  • Love to play with chew toys, people, and other dogs

Perfect Home

  • An active family that will love me, be kind to me, and include me in typical family activities as much as reasonable
  • Humans that use patience, firmness, and consistency in training, accepting that I am a puppy and still have a lot to learn
  • If possible, access to a dog friend that will play with me and teach me appropriate dog manners when I am out of bounds
  • Dog Compatibility: Loves to play with other dogs and would benefit from another playful and confident dog in the home
  • Cat Compatibility: Lion has no experience with cats. He can learn with a dog-savvy cat, but he will likely chase initially.
  • Kid Compatibility: Lion will make a great companion for children and teens with appropriate training. Kids 7-13 will do well with supervision as he learns the rules. Very young children will be overwhelmed by his energy, mouthiness, and jumping behavior, and will need good supervision.

My Story

Lion came into the rescue qith his three siblings when his owner wasn’t able to find a good home for them. Shark’s mom is a petite pocket Lab mix, but we’re unsure who is Dad was. Based on Lion’s looks (and his big paws) and personality and retriever tendencies, we think he was likely a Lab/lab mix. In any case, Lion is 100% adorable. He is a healthy, happy, and curious puppy who is eager to learn and to be loved. If he could play with a dog every day, he would be a happy guy, but he also loves to spend time with his people. Lion is so smart, and he’s eager to be part of your family and your new best friend.
