Ways to Volunteer

Volunteers are at the heart of Golden Bond Retriever Rescue. Whether you’re looking to volunteer with dogs, support a dog rescue, or help behind the scenes, there’s a place for you here.

Volunteer Opportunities: Give Your Time. Change a Life.

Every dog we rescue depends on a network of people working together behind the scenes across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

From fostering and transportation to home visits and administrative support, volunteers make it possible for dogs to move safely from intake to adoption.

You don’t need special experience, just a willingness to help.

Ways You Can Help

Opportunities range from hands-on dog care to behind-the-scenes support.

Fostering a Dog

Help provide a safe, temporary home for dogs waiting for adoption.

  • Foster families care for dogs for a few weeks or longer while they prepare for their forever homes
  • GBRR provides guidance and support throughout the fostering process
  • Dogs may need help adjusting, recovering, building confidence, or simply having a safe place to stay
  • Foster needs vary and may include puppies, adult dogs, seniors, or dogs needing extra support
  • Families across Oregon, Washington, and Western Idaho are welcome to apply
  • Even first-time fosters are encouraged — support is available every step of the way

Dog Transportation

Help dogs get where they need to go:

  • Drive dogs to their new foster homes, adoptive homes, or veterinarian
  • Have an SUV or van? That makes it easy to transport the dogs in their crates. If not, the dog can be secured in the back seat

  • Flexible, as needed scheduling

  • A perfect option for helping occasionally, but a very important “job”

Required equipment: Retriever-sized collar, regular leash, and rope-style slip lead

Home Visits

Support the adoption process:

  • Conduct home visits and interviews for prospective adopters

  • Follow a guided questionnaire during the visit

  • Check critical areas of the home, including yard and fence
  • Help assess whether the home environment is a good fit for the dog

  • Submit your findings to the Adoption Team through an online form

New Dog Evaluations

Help us learn about incoming rescue dogs:

  • Visit dogs in shelters or former homes before they enter rescue care

  • Observe behavior, temperament, and comfort levels

  • Evaluate how the dog interacts with people and other dogs

  • Share observations to Golden Bond Retriever Rescue team

Dog Photography & Videography

Capture the charm of each special dog:

  • Take high quality photos and videos of dogs in foster homes

  • Create compelling content that helps dogs connect with potential adopter

  • Photographers and videographers are needed across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest

Meet & Greet Coordination

Schedule opportunities for foster dogs to meet the public:

  • Coordinate meet and greet opportunities with local venues and community partners

  • Work with foster families to bring dogs to events

  • Attend meet and greets to support adopters and answer questions

  • Observe how dogs interact with people, environments, and other dogs

  • Help organize regional meet and greet efforts across the Pacific Northwest
